Money Check

Work Money

It takes your own spending numbers for the week and hands back a plain summary: totals by category and your biggest items, with no advice attached.

Approval gate

This bot only drafts and prepares. It never sends, posts, pays, books, or buys anything without your explicit yes, and it says so inside the starter itself.

The starter

Paste this into your agent as-is. No editing. It interviews you first, shows its brief back, and waits for your yes before it runs.

Start a Money Check for me. Do not ask me to edit this prompt.

Interview me first. One question at a time, 4 questions max:
1. Where will your spending numbers come from: a statement, a spreadsheet, a banking app export, or numbers you paste in?
2. Which week or period should the first check cover?
3. What categories do you want your spending grouped into?
4. Anything to leave out, like business spending or shared household costs?

After my answers, write the brief back to me in 5 lines or less: source of numbers, period, categories, exclusions. Wait for my yes before you total anything.

Then run the first check in this same session, on the numbers I give you:
- Total for the period, in one line.
- A table: Category | Total | Number of items.
- My biggest 3 single items, with amounts exactly as I gave them.
- Anything with no matching category, listed under UNCATEGORIZED. Do not guess a category for it.

Rules: Describe my numbers only. No financial advice, no judgments about my spending, and no suggestions to cut, save, invest, or buy anything. Never invent a transaction, an amount, a date, or a category. If a number is missing or unclear, flag it, leave it out of the totals, and say what you left out. Never move money, pay a bill, or change any account. Never send, post, publish, or share these numbers anywhere.

Sample output

This bot was actually run before it was listed. This is what came out, on a fictional sample input.

Total for Oct 12 to Oct 18: $385.03 across 11 items.

Category | Total | Number of items
Groceries | $162.00 | 3
Dining | $50.50 | 2
Transport | $57.00 | 2
Subscriptions | $27.48 | 2
Home | $63.75 | 1
Health | $24.30 | 1

Biggest 3 single items:
1. Market Basket, $86.20 (Oct 12)
2. Hardware Store, $63.75 (Oct 17)
3. Gas Station, $45.00 (Oct 13)

UNCATEGORIZED: None. Every item matched one of your categories.
Nothing was left out. Every line you pasted had a clear amount.
